Two Heartaches Away

I know a stream that runs near here.
Only twenty minutes and two heartaches away.

The water runs like the deer and the trout
are fat and happy.
Just to feel the tug of that first nibble
on a rainy morning,
Is like making love to you.

The sun when it slips thru the
trees at dawn is like your eyes when
you open them at the start of our
days.

The feel of the buffalo grass crumpling
beneath my feet and running between my
toes - is like my hand gently closing
on your breast.

And the moon at midnight when the fire
is nothing but glowing coals, whispers
to me like you do when you say you love
me in the middle of our sleep.

I know a stream that runs near here.
Only twenty minutes and two heartaches away.
